Today I heard Vincent ranting about FOSDEM. As a system administrator he couldn’t find any cool rooms that fits his interests.
So I had an idea: if there isn’t any event in belgium that promotes open source tools for sys admin, why not create one? Vincent and Kris were enthusiastic about it, but I think we need more people.
We are still in concept-mode, so we don’t know yet where or when it will take place (although we know that it will be in Belgium
). We also want to make it FOSDEM style, but of course we don’t expect 1000people
so if you want to join us, please leave a reply on this blog post, or send an e-mail to: biertie _AT_ fedoraproject _DOT_ org.

Ik denk dat dit zeker iets is waar Zeus aan mee wil werken. Je laat maar iets weten
As a sysadmin I’ve seen some interesting talks about selinux, lvm, upstart and ext4 at fosdem. But it is indeed aimed more at developers.
Dave Nalley and Pascal Calarco are good folks to ask about this; they’re both US-based but know of or have been to open-source-ish sysadmin conferences near them, and those kinds of events might be a good template for what you’re trying to set up.
I’d love to see a more sysadmin-oriented event in Flanders. Heck, if it’s not too far, and fits my schedule I might even offer some help.
There are a lot of distributions present this year, holding a “distro miniconf”. We will normally have a main track about monitoring.
What do you see as “more sysadmin oriented” ?
“patches are welcome”
There *are* already sysadmin-oriented conferences: http://www.profoss.eu/index.php/main/Events
This might be the opportunity to start a BarcampESM in Europe
@florisla
And now the correct link plz ?
@Kris, I don’t know a better link than that?
